About Janka's Workshop

From an engineer's firsthand experience — to a product that actually solves the problem.

I'm an automotive engineer with years of experience in vehicle hardware and wiring harness design. In 2022, I discovered the Openpilot ecosystem and started diving deep into what Comma AI was building. In 2023, I got my hands on a Comma 3X through a friend in the US and officially became part of the community. In 2024, I founded Janka's Workshop to bring my own designs to Comma users around the world.

Through my own experience and feedback from friends, one frustration kept coming up.

A friend of mine who lives in the US loves road trips. Whenever he parked in an area he wasn't sure about, he'd take his Comma 3X off the mount to avoid theft — the device looks expensive enough to attract the wrong attention. But removing it was a hassle. The stock mount fits tight, and if you're not careful, it's easy to knock the device against the dashcam housing and crack the screen. I know this firsthand — I've replaced a Comma 3X screen myself.

That experience got me thinking: what if removing and reinstalling the device took just one second?

As an automotive engineer, I had the skills to design a solution. I started with 3D printing, but quickly realized it wasn't up to the job — the material couldn't handle the combination of device weight and constant road vibration, and the surface finish looked rough compared to the interior of a modern car. So I switched to CNC precision machining, manufacturing every part to automotive-grade tolerances with a clean, premium finish.

The result is exactly what I set out to build: a one-second quick-release mount with integrated cable routing — one plug, one pull, done. No loose wires. No tools. No hassle.

Janka's Workshop was built out of real-world need, designed by an engineer, for Comma AI users. We believe your accessories should make your device easier to use — not harder.
